One July Summer

What has happened to summer,
That’s what I want to know.
Is she on a vacation –
Who knows where did she go?
Tell, what was she wearing;
A zephyr breeze and rosebud
Or grass and wild berry?
Could she be honeymooning
With spring or early fall
Or has she gone so far away
She’ll not return at all?

Dorothy Ardelle Merriam:
It’s July, guys! Can you believe it? We’ll be heading on into Winter before you know it and then next thing you know – Christmas! Any organised souls out there have their presents bought yet? I’m last minute.com unfortunately, always have been always will, and right now it’s still summer, or at least it’s supposed to be. The only way we can tell here in the UK is that we don’t need to put the central heating on. Other than that I still put on a coat to go to the shops 😦

  1. It has been a cooler summer, hasn’t it? It feels like spring/summer here between the temperatures and constant rain that we’re getting. Not that I’m complaining! I’d rather have rain than a drought. Please don’t remind me of winter and Christmas. lol The holidays are nice, but full of busyness and weight gain, and I can never get too much of the warm weather. I try not to get depressed about it eventually getting colder before the spring even gets here. That’s how bad it is. 😛 I hope you’re enjoying your summer too! xxx

    1. It’s great when the sun comes out but there just don’t seem to be enough days when it does! Still, I’m with you on the rain, rain is good, especially if it’s warm 🙂
      Xmas would be soo much better without the busyness wouldn’t it? Won’t be long till we hear Noddy Holder telling us, it’s Chriiiistmaaas! 😉

  2. What happened to summer?! It came from England to NEW England, that’s what happened to it! We’ve been hot, muggy, rainy, miserable…

  4. Being from the U.S., July will always be summer to me. Even after five years in New Zealand my head still spins every time I walk out into a cold, blustery winter day in July.

  7. Hello Jill, we’ve just returned from our ‘summer’ holiday. I had to buy a new coat and several jumpers because I was so cold! Guess what? Summer arrived as soon as we got home. I’m not complaining – bring on the sun!!!

  8. Jill, I’m in Florida and we have summer all year round. In “winter” when it gets a bit chilly, we rush to take out our sweaters:-)

    1. I think I must be a bit of a masochist – I love hearing how good the weather is in other countries 😉 Or maybe I’m just being British and enjoying any weather talk! Mmmmm, Florida!
